As a staunch island lover who ventured as far as Hawaii, Fiji, Thailand, and the Caribbean, I decided it was time to explore and discover islands closer to Israel, which you don't need to fly 11 hours or more to reach, but are still suitable for vacationing and traveling even in the winter.
I chose to visit the Canary Islands, which belong to Spain but are located near Morocco. A wonderful destination to visit in all seasons.

Lanzarote - A Black and White Island in the Canaries

Lanzarote is the northernmost island in the Canary Islands chain, smaller than Tenerife and Gran Canaria, but special and different from all the other islands.
The island is built of 300 (!) volcanoes, mostly extinct, but some dormant, its soil is mostly black/basaltic, and all the houses on it are built in an identical style unique to the island: white walls with green or brown windows, no advertising signs, and clean streets and roads.
