Guided Tours in Barcelona from Viator:
The cooking workshop offered by the school lasts about 4 hours, during which you will tour the famous, colorful market on La Rambla, La Boqueria, and prepare four authentic Spanish dishes. During the market tour, while you will pass by the touristy stalls of fruits and sweets, the main part of the tour takes you to where the locals shop. Vibrant stalls brimming with fruits, vegetables, mushrooms, spices, chocolates, eggs, fresh fish, seafood, cheeses, and meats will welcome you. The sights, colors, and aromas create an unforgettable experience. The chef guiding you will share fascinating insights into authentic Spanish cuisine and the dishes you are about to cook. Along the tour, the chef purchases all the fresh ingredients needed for the hands-on workshop.
The ingredients are fresh and everything is set – time to eat, let's cook!
The cooking school offers two types of workshops:
• Cooking Class + La Boqueria Market Tour: Held Tuesday through Saturday from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Price per person: €78. Children aged 3–12 receive a 50% discount.
• Cooking Class: On Mondays, held from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM. In addition, an evening session runs Monday through Saturday from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Price per person: €65. A 50% discount applies for children here as well.
The menu changes seasonally, but frequently includes classic, traditional Barcelona dishes such as paella, Spanish omelette (tortilla), and Crema Catalana (the Catalan version of crème brûlée). The workshops are intimate, capped at 12 participants, and you get to be real chefs! You are the ones preparing the dishes: chopping vegetables, cracking eggs, frying, cooking, and plating. While the chef guides and explains every step, you get a genuinely hands-on experience exploring a wide variety of flavors and techniques.
Throughout the entire session, the chef enriches the experience with culinary tips and explanations, not just about the specific recipes, but about cooking in general: which wine pairs best with the meal, which herbs elevate the flavors, how to tell if fish is fresh, how far in advance a dish can be prepped before serving, and much more.
Advance registration is required. Full details on the Barcelona Cooking website.
It is also possible to arrange private workshops for small groups or inquire about custom menu changes. Groups interested in a private class can reach out by email for a tailored quote based on group size and menu preferences.
In summary, this is a highly recommended and unique experience that gives you an up-close introduction to Spanish culinary culture, leaving you thoroughly satisfied and well-fed... a delightful culinary treat, guaranteed!
Tip:
Before heading out to the market tour, you can review the recipe booklet for the dishes you will prepare. Look through it and let the chef know if you have any allergies (such as dairy or nuts) or dietary restrictions (such as dishes containing pork or shellfish). In most cases, the chef will gladly prepare an alternative or adjust the ingredients (such as using chicken instead of seafood in the paella).
In addition to the cooking classes, the venue also organizes Epicurean Guided Tours: a guided walking tour through the Gothic Quarter (minimum 2 participants required). Price per person: €150. Tours run Tuesday through Saturday from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM and include breakfast, a tour of La Boqueria Market, and visits to specialty art and gourmet food shops (such as specialized olive oil shops, wine merchants, artisan chocolatiers, and more). The tour also includes stops at some of the best and most famous tapas bars in Barcelona, where you can sample traditional local tapas paired with regional wines. Buen Provecho! (Enjoy your meal!)
