On the edge of a typical southern Italian town, a 400-year-old flour mill has been turned into two unique villas surrounded by gardens. The larger villa is called ANTICO MULINO and features three bedrooms, a living room, a kitchen, a bathroom, an additional toilet, a huge hall with a ping-pong table, and the highlight: an immense, meticulously maintained private courtyard of 5,000 square meters with trimmed English gardens, a patio, statues, and a private pool. The maximum number of guests allowed in the villa is seven.
In the second villa, named VECCHIO MULINO, there are only two bedrooms, a living room, a kitchen, and a covered balcony. This villa also has a private courtyard, but its area is "only" 1,000 square meters. The courtyard features a swimming pool with jacuzzi jets. The maximum number of guests allowed in the villa is five.
Both villas have cable TV, a CD player, and video games in the living room. The villas are also equipped with a washing machine, bicycles, heating, and private parking, but they do not have a telephone line.
The villa serves as a convenient starting point for trips to famous tourist sites in southern Italy such as Naples, Sorrento, the island of Capri, the magical Amalfi Coast, Pompeii, and Mount Vesuvius, as well as very impressive sites mostly known to Italians, such as the Royal Palace in the city of Caserta CASERTA, which is the largest and most luxurious palace in Italy, reminiscent in style of the Palace of Versailles and featuring massive gardens with fountains and statues.
The villa is suitable for a family (or families) looking for a quiet yet unconventional vacation, interested in getting to know the local lifestyle and not wanting to stay in the heart of a bustling city or a crowded tourist area. Although there are no classic "family attractions" such as amusement parks in the area, children will love riding family bicycles around the palace gardens in Caserta, taking a speedboat in Capri (to the Blue Grotto or for a tour around the island), riding a chairlift to the heights of Mount Solaro (on Capri), wandering through the underground tunnels where gladiators trained beneath the amphitheater (the second largest in Italy, after the Colosseum in Rome) in Santa Maria Capua Vetere, gazing into the crater of a dormant volcano (Vesuvius), and the impressive ruins of ancient Pompeii will also leave them indifferent—especially if you tell them the tragic story of the city.
The hosting price includes a unique experience (for a couple; additional family members must pay an extra fee) called PIZZA EXPERIENCE. You will learn to make authentic Neapolitan pizza in a traditional wood-fired oven at a local restaurant. Highly recommended and delicious!
