Turks and Caicos Islands Travel
As a fan of the tropical islands and enchanting beaches, I have checked which beaches are considered the most beautiful in the world. I have discovered that the popular website Trip Advisor and the prestigious tourist magazine Conde’ Nast and CNN in 2015 chose a beach called Grace Bay in Turks and Caicos as the most beautiful beach in the world.
I have decided to check out the place from close and I was captivated by the magic of this tiny and charming Caribbean country who has long beaches with gentle and soft sand, decorated with palm trees and mainly calm, pure and clear water in an amazing turquoise color. I couldn’t stop being impressed by the turquoise colors and I couldn’t get out of the cozy water. Every day I have discovered a more beautiful new beach than before. Thanks to the huge selection of beautiful beaches you can almost feel like Robinson Crusoe – alone on a private island…
The
American and Canadian tourists fell in love with Turks
and Caicos and rightly so: it is a safe and pleasant
country (it is considered one the safest countries in
the Caribbean), filled with sunshine – with 350 sunny
days a year, which is less than a two-hour flight from
Miami and Fort Lauderdale, about two and a half hours
from Philadelphia and less than a three hour flight from
New York. There are also direct flights from Toronto.
The location of the islands in the Caribbean:
The Canadians love Turks and Caicos so much that up until a few years ago, there was a serious idea (which was since been canceled) to turn the country into a Canadian territory. Many tourists buy vacation apartments there and spend the entire winter months. Also, many celebrities began buying their luxury villas. Prince had there an amazing villa overlooking the sea. Many other celebrities such as Bruce Willis, Donna Karen and Oprah Winfrey have bought real estate on the island.
The Turks and Caicos Islands TCI is a small country
in the Caribbean made up of eight main islands and
another 40 small islands, most of them uninhabited.
The islands are located southeast of the Bahamas and
north of the Dominican Republic and Haiti, and 926 km
southeast of Miami.
This country is a British
territory. The official language is English and the
currency is US dollars.
On the island, there are
30,000 residents and there are over 200,000 tourists
flying there every year and double that arrive on cruise
ships. The island’s main economy is based on tourism.
The map of the Turk and
Caicos islands:
The average temperature between
November and May is 27 – 29 degrees and between June and
October is 29 – 32 degrees.
The country’s flag:
The flag includes three elements typical to the region: the Turk Head cactus (common on the islands and resembles a Turkish hat and hence the name of the island), the Conch Shell and the Spiny Lobster, which are very common in the island’s waters.
The most common foods in Turk and Caicos come of course from the sea: a variety of fish and seafood and mainly the huge Conch Shell from which they prepare salads, soups and a variety of dishes (resembling in taste and texture to calamari).
