General Information
Boracay Island is a small and touristic resort island in the center of the Philippines, 10.3 sq km in area and 7 km in length. It is known for its wonderful beaches with powdery white sand and clear, calm turquoise water. The island has been chosen by leading travel magazines in 2012, 2014, and 2016 as one of the best destinations for travel and vacation. Due to the high number of tourists, the Philippine government closed the island in 2018 for about half a year to tourists in order to carry out rehabilitation and improvement work on the island.
Ways to Get to Boracay
You can get to Boracay by a flight to the international airport of Caticlan located on the neighboring island of Panay. From the airport, take a taxi and ferry to Boracay Island.
Ferries arrive in Caticlan from other islands and also from Manila (which is far).
You can also fly to the city of Iloilo on Panay Island, which is also a tourist destination with an international airport, and from there get by car to Caticlan (about a 5-hour drive).

The three best hotels on Boracay Island are all five-star resorts on the most successful beach on the island, located side by side in the northwest of the island. If you were looking for a perfect place for a vacation in the Philippines, this is the place.
All hotels have a spa, restaurants, children's play areas, wonderful views, and a perfect beach. All of them also have water sports and a private pier which can be reached directly from Caticlan without the need for transfers and car rides. In all of them, weddings (which are very popular in the area) took place on the day we visited.
The most luxurious hotel of all and also the largest of the three, featuring two private beaches, amazing rooms and villas with a private pool. Two pools, 4 restaurants, a bar, spa, free internet.

A four-star hotel located on a beach in an area called Station 1. A small hotel with a small pool but a spacious room, featuring a spacious bathroom with all the necessary amenities, free internet, excellent service, including laundry services and in-room massages at great prices, a beachfront restaurant with a lovely view, amazing sunsets, wonderful shakes and good food, and most importantly— a wonderful beach with calm turquoise water, lounge chairs, and boat views from every direction. An ideal starting point for beach tours.

The island offers marine sports and vacation activities: parasailing, banana boats, jet skis, plenty of relaxation, and stunning sunsets.
The main trips
on the island include island and beach hopping. Destinations vary depending
on the season and wind, with the goal of reaching calm and photogenic beaches as well
as a good spot for snorkeling. In addition to snorkeling in the sea, they stop at two
quiet beaches and also include lunch on the tour.
It is recommended to take private tours for those who can afford it. A private boat cruise
with a guide and a crew of 2-3 people to operate the boat, otherwise
you will find yourselves on boats with dozens of people, crowded and packed.
The price difference is really not large and the difference in quality and standard is huge. Our guide, for example, quickly realized that we do not like being among the crowds and took us from a beach with dozens of boats and hundreds of people to a nearby isolated and hidden beach.
The meal on the cruise is pleasant, although it is hard to say I fell in love with Filipino food… next to the restaurant (which is very large) there are swings and a gimmick of a pot over a fire where they "cook" the tourists.
