Where to eat

Thanks to New York's enormous ethnic diversity, it has restaurants of all types and kinds. It is considered the gastronomic capital of the USA and has more restaurants than any other city on the continent. At the same time, food prices in the city are relatively expensive: even a simple meal at a fast-food joint like McDonald's will cost more in New York than in most cities in the USA. Additionally, you will find it difficult to find cheap and recommended family restaurants like those scattered in abundance along the roads in the USA. You also won't come across large and cheap supermarkets in the city center, and to buy a little food and drink for your hotel room, you will have to pay a high price at one of the Delis scattered throughout Manhattan.

Food Tours:

I recommend joining a food tour at the beginning of your stay in New York, where you will also receive information about recommended restaurants where you can dine during your next travel days in New York.

Chinese Food

♦ For lovers of Chinese food, it is recommended to eat in Chinatown, at one of the authentic restaurants where the Chinese themselves eat.

Jewish / Israeli Food

♦ If you miss Jewish food, don't worry. In New York (especially in Brooklyn) there is an abundance of Jewish restaurants (most of them kosher) and Israeli food such as shawarma and falafel. The falafel considered the best in the city is Falafel 'N' Stuff, Address: 1586 First Ave. between 82nd and 83rd Streets.

Delicatessens

♦ The most famous Deli (from the movie "When Harry Met Sally") is: Katz’s Delicatessen, Address: 205 East Houston St., known for its hot dogs and pastrami sandwiches.

♦ For dessert: Financier - a chain of French cafes with wonderful cakes, with branches throughout Manhattan.

Candy Store

"Dylan’s Candy Bar" is a giant candy store located on Third Avenue, at: 1011 Third Ave. The store (which has branches in other US destinations) has more than 5,000 types of candies and is considered the largest candy store in the world. The store spreads over three floors and is superbly designed (it has won many design awards) and also features a cafe and bar.
