Recommended Hotels in New York
♦ Routes (free): Detailed travel itineraries in USA
Hotels in New York are more expensive than in other US cities. For the price of staying in a luxury villa in Orlando, or a suite in a fancy apartment hotel in California, you will find it difficult to get a reasonable room in Manhattan. During American holidays and tourist seasons, prices are even higher. Interestingly, during the summer months (July-August), accommodation prices are cheaper compared to fall and spring.
Rooms in Manhattan are also smaller compared to the spacious hotel rooms and motels in other US cities. Many hotels do not have rooms suitable for a family of 4-5 people at all. It is very important to book accommodations in advance because although new hotels are constantly being built in the city, there is still a shortage of rooms.
You will likely not rent a car in New York, and it is better that way; therefore, it is advisable to live in Manhattan so that you can reach many sites on foot or by a short taxi ride. Naturally, the further you move from central Manhattan, the hotel prices decrease, but you will have to waste precious time and money on round-trip travel.
New York has prestigious and luxurious hotels, such as: The Pierre, The Ritz-Carlton, The Plaza, Grand Hyatt and many others. I will not weary you with their details because they are all excellent.
But for those who do not want, or cannot, pay many hundreds or even thousands of dollars per night, here are several recommended hotels for both families and couples at sane prices (relative to the city's supply) in a central and convenient location:
