Trip Itinerary in the Music Triangle from Nashville to New Orleans via Memphis
♦ Back to main USA itineraries page
This is a particularly favorite route for music lovers. It includes visits to three important cities in US music culture: Nashville, known as "Music City" and considered the "Country Music Capital" of the USA; Memphis, the city of Elvis Presley, considered the birthplace and capital of the Blues in the USA but also famous for its Rock and Roll; and finally, New Orleans, the birthplace and capital of Jazz music, famous for its "Mardi Gras" carnival. On this route, you will also drive on the "Blues Highway."

Nashville
Nashville, the capital of Tennessee, is nicknamed "Music City" and is considered the "Country Music Capital" of the USA. Of course, the country music there is the highlight of the visit, but the city has many other music styles, from blues and jazz to pop and hip hop to gospel music. On one street known as "Music Row," there are more than 120 recording studios.

Natchez
Natchez is a charming small historic city located on the banks of the Mississippi. It is located on the "Blues Highway" between Memphis and New Orleans and is an excellent destination for overnight stays and touring. It has many beautiful historic houses, luxurious mansions, a cute and colorful city center, and an impressive promenade along the cliff overlooking the Mississippi River. It is possible and recommended to tour some of the beautiful mansions.

New Orleans
New Orleans, where Jazz music developed, is one of the most special and fascinating cities in the USA. It is quite unlike any other city in the country - not in its building style reminiscent of a European city, not in its atmosphere and culture, and not even in its food and customs. Many have heard of New Orleans thanks to the largest carnival in the USA celebrated there every year in winter: "Mardi Gras" as well as the Jazz festivals held there.
