Auckland is the largest and most populous city in New Zealand with 1.5 million residents. Its population accounts for about a third of the entire population of New Zealand. The city is built on an 11 km wide volcanic isthmus separating two harbours: Waitemata Harbour to the east, facing the Pacific Ocean, and Manukau Harbour to the west, facing the Tasman Sea.

The city's nickname is the "City of Sails" thanks to the fact that one in three city residents owns a boat.

Auckland has an impressive and famous bridge, the Auckland Harbour Bridge, connecting the city center with its northern part called Northcote.

Sky Tower

The number one attraction in the city, where it is recommended to start your visit to Auckland, is going up the tallest tower in New Zealand, the Sky Tower, for an amazing panoramic view of the city from a height of 328 meters!

You ascend to the observation decks in a glass elevator. Part of the observation deck floor is also transparent, allowing you to look down at the street far below.

The tower is located at the corner of Victoria and Federal Streets. On the first floor, a film about Auckland and its surroundings is screened, and there is a large souvenir shop. The largest museum in the city is Auckland Museum. It is a history museum combined with a war memorial museum showcasing the history of New Zealand starting from the Māori era.
