Farmhouse Accommodation in Flachau or Wagrain

Introduction

Every country and region in the world has a particularly successful accommodation style. In the Netherlands, it is worthwhile to stay in one of the hundreds of holiday villages scattered across the country; in Orlando, you should not miss staying in a villa with a private swimming pool; in Canada, it is wonderful to stay in a B&B, whereas in Austria, it is highly recommended to stay in a village farmhouse. You will receive a comfortable, spacious, spotlessly clean, and wonderfully tidy house. The variety is enormous, prices are extremely attractive, and the atmosphere is magical. In most cases, it is an apartment or several apartments in a single farmhouse designed to accommodate 2-8 people. Each apartment has a well-organized and exemplary equipped kitchen (in many places, a cake or home-baked pastry will await you on the first day), several bedrooms, a living room, toilets, bathrooms, and a yard or small balcony. In the farmhouse yard, there are various animals such as rabbits, cats, sheep, cows, etc., some of which can be fed or petted. In many farmhouses, there are numerous playground facilities: trampolines, swings, slides, etc.

Flachau Flachau and Wagrain wagrain are two charming towns adjacent to each other in the Salzburg region, about eighty kilometers south of the city of Salzburg. It is recommended to stay in these two towns or in farmhouses in their vicinity and take star trips in the area from there.

Many farms offer free bicycles for the independent use of guests. Frequently, you can step right out from the threshold of the farm for a hike or bike ride on well-maintained paths amidst magical scenery.
It is worth choosing a farm that is located on the one hand in a pastoral area, with wonderful views of mountains or lakes (such houses are not lacking), but on the other hand is located a short drive from a main traffic artery, so that you do not waste too much time on driving on winding mountain roads. In some of the farmhouses, you can receive (for an additional fee) pampering breakfasts.

 

Some of the holiday apartments have wireless internet for the free use of guests. This is becoming more common from year to year. For those who cannot part with their computer for a few days or weeks and must be connected to the world, it is worth taking this fact into account.
Since almost every peak in Austria is a ski resort and winter tourism is highly developed there, most of the houses in the towns and villages adjacent to the countless peaks make a living from tourism and have rooms or apartments for rent for skiers. In the rest of the seasons, accommodation prices drop and you can choose from an enormous variety of options the accommodation that suits you best at affordable prices. Most of the houses are well-maintained, decorated with colorful flowers, surrounded by green lawns, and look as if they stepped out of a postcard.

For a family, it is preferable to choose an apartment with at least one bedroom and a living room rather than a "zimmer" which is actually one room for everyone together without a kitchen.
I do not recommend staying in Salzburg itself or in the towns adjacent to it (such as Anif) because accommodation there is more expensive and usually much more crowded or commercialized.

This is Hitler's famous holiday home located on a mountain peak. The trip departs from the bus station at Mirabellplatz in Salzburg and takes about 4.5 hours. Enter without waiting in lines (required to bring a passport for the trip because you cross the border into Germany).

 

On a 7-10 night trip where you wish to stay in one place for the entire duration of the trip, it is recommended to stay in the sports area of the Salzburg region Salzburger Sportwelt  and from there tour the entire region and if time permits also pop over for trips in the Salzkammergut region, Carinthia, the nearby German enclave, and East Tyrol. The great advantage of this area is its central location, about a 50-minute drive south of the city of Salzburg, on the A-10 highway, which connects Salzburg with Carinthia, in the enormous variety of accommodation options it offers, in the selection of active holiday and sport activities it offers, and of course in its magical landscapes.

 

 

The town of Flachau Flachau is particularly attractive due to its central location, near the highway (don't worry, two minutes after you leave the highway you will reach a quiet and pastoral place) and the abundance of attractions it offers for families, especially for the energetic and adrenaline seekers: bicycle tours, rafting, alpine coasters, rope parks, climbing walls, zorbing, mini-golf, plenty of cable cars, a cute swimming lake, and walking trails. In the town, there are many sports facilities such as: tennis courts, roller skating rinks, basketball courts, soccer fields, and more.

In summer everything in it is green and lush with vegetation and especially flowers in a variety of colors, and in winter everything is snowy and white.
The town has a charming center that is fun to wander around on foot and features a variety of restaurants, hotels, shops, a supermarket, various tour operators, and of course a successful visitors center:
