A Trip to a Charming Spot in the Northern Tip of Denmark
Most Israelis visiting Denmark spend most of their time in Copenhagen and its surroundings (Zealand island) and travel at most as far as Legoland, located in southern Jutland. Travel books in Hebrew also focus exclusively on these areas.
However, northern Jutland, the "tip of Denmark," from which numerous ferries depart for southern Norway, is actually my favorite region: green, brimming with lakes and inlets, and most importantly filled with pleasant family attractions and wonderful vacation resorts.
Jesperhus Park
An example of one such attraction, which is not mentioned in travel guides, is Jesperhus Park (JESPERHUS). This is the largest flower park in Scandinavia, featuring spectacular carpets of flowers in an array of colors and shapes, interspersed with water streams and waterfalls, including Denmark's longest waterfall.
During your visit to the park, you will encounter sculptures of cars, houses, and animals crafted entirely from flowers.
Along the park's walking trails, peacocks and exotic birds stroll about fearlessly.
The park includes an amusement park featuring theme park rides, trampolines, pony rides, a petting zoo, "gold panning," and other attractions that will keep children captivated so thoroughly that you will have a hard time convincing them to leave.
In addition, it is highly recommended not to miss the animal area, which includes: birds (over one hundred species), butterflies, crocodiles, snakes, and other tropical animals.
Adjacent to the flower park is a water park featuring an indoor tropical area as well as an outdoor section with pools and water slides.
Next to the flower park sits a holiday village with small cottages (of varying standards) and a campsite. You can find all kinds of services and amenities there: from a supermarket and laundromat to mini-golf and numerous playground facilities.
In summary, this is a rich and diverse park suitable for all ages, offering a great day out after bustling Copenhagen and before heading into the fjord landscapes.
Hamlet's Castle
Another excellent destination in the northern Jutland region is Hamlet's Castle. A magnificent castle worth visiting, where it is also recommended to take a guided Segway tour around the area and go for a walk in the nearby deer forest.
