Lake Tahoe is the largest alpine lake in North America, with a circumference of 116 km.

Only 53,000 residents live around the lake year-round, and at the peak of the season about 300,000 people. The annual number of tourists is 3 million! A number similar to the number of visitors in impressive and popular national parks like the Grand Canyon (3.2 million) and Yellowstone National Park (2.7 million).
