Travel and Vacation in Cancun, Mexico

I highly recommend a trip and vacation in Cancun, Mexico. Cancun is located on the Caribbean side of Mexico and is a short flight of about an hour and a half from Miami.

In Cancun, there is a long and narrow strip of luxury hotels and resorts, which on one side have a turquoise beach with soft white sand and on the other side, a lagoon. The temperature in Cancun is 25-30 degrees Celsius all year round. The best months to visit are the winter months from December to April, which is the drier season in the region. The summer months are rainier, and the autumn months are known for tropical storms in the area. Additionally, what could be better than a summer-like stay at the seaside during the peak of winter in North America.

A visit to Cancun combines a dream vacation with a glass of tequila in hand by the pool along with nature and archaeology tours. All this is combined with a pleasant encounter with the Mexican culture and the Mexicans, who are warm and friendly people.

The recommended duration for a visit to Cancun is one week, including 3-4 days of touring and 3 days of vacation and shopping.

Recommended tours from Cancun:

Tours to the Maya Pyramids

A full-day trip to the Maya pyramids - CHICHEN ITZA, located about two and a half hours' drive from Cancun. Many tourism companies organize tours to the site. Highly recommended for fans of archaeology and ancient cultures.

Xcaret Water Park

A full-day trip to a natural water park named Xcaret. The main attraction at the site is underground rivers where you swim through tunnels for about forty minutes. The water is clear and cool, but the air is warm. This is a unique and enjoyable experience. Adjacent to the rivers is a charming bay with soft white sand and extremely quiet waters scattered with yellow tubes, which anyone can lounge on in the water (at no charge!). Real pampering and tranquility. The beach (and the entire park) is full of rich vegetation and many coconut trees. Near the beach, there are dolphins that you can swim with for a significant fee. The park has many other animals: iguanas, peacocks, monkeys, sea turtles, butterflies, birds, and more.

Various shows take place in the park during the day, but the most magnificent of all is the evening show, which includes stunts, dances, and acrobatics. Don't miss this trip.

Boating and Snorkeling to Isla Mujeres

Swimming with a sharkBoating and touring "The Island of Women" - ISLA MUJERES. This is a tiny and charming island located 40 minutes by boat from Cancun. It can be reached by an organized tour in a luxury ship, by ferry, or by small "taxi" boats. In the center of the island, there are many souvenir shops, but it is especially recommended to bathe in its quiet, clear beaches and snorkel. You can also swim in the south of the island with nurse sharks… The sea between Cancun and the island is an intense turquoise color, and the boating (especially recommended in small boats) is an enjoyable experience.

Snorkeling in Cancun

Other trip options are to Cozumel Island, known for its variety of fish, highly recommended for diving and snorkeling enthusiasts.

Shopping

You must not leave Cancun without doing some shopping. Although the hotel area is full of fancy shopping centers, in my opinion, it is better to visit the market in the city center, where you can find lovely bargains if you like to haggle.

There is no need to rent a car in Cancun. There is regular public transportation and many taxis with a fixed and very reasonable rate.

Take into account that meals in restaurants are quite expensive in Cancun, which is a distinct tourist city to which Americans flock in droves, but the light Mexican music in the background creates a perfect vacation atmosphere.

Playa del Carmen

You can split the vacation in Cancun and combine it with a few days in the city of Playa del Carmen on the Riviera Maya, located about an hour's drive south of Cancun. It is a very touristy city with many hotels covering all its beaches, and its coastline is crowded with bathers. Those who love a bustling city with entertainment sites, clubs, restaurants, bars, and lively beaches will find what they are looking for here.
