East of Akureyri, on the way to Lake Myvatn, you will likely notice from the side of the road the water spray splashing from Godafoss, the "Waterfall of the Gods," one of the most spectacular waterfalls in Iceland. The waterfall cascades from the Skjalfandafljot river from a height of 12 meters, spanning a width of 30 meters. From the parking lot, there is an arranged walking trail leading to a viewpoint overlooking the falls.
Warm recommendation: Visit Iceland on a cruise ship; a detailed description of such a trip can be found in the article: Cruise to Iceland and Norway on the Sky Princess

Did you know? Godafoss waterfall got its name following an event that took place in the year 1000 AD, when the Lawspeaker of the Parliament decided on the conversion of Iceland to Christianity and cast all the pagan idol statues in his possession into the water.
