About a half-hour drive west of Vik on Route 1 lies the town of Skogar. The main attraction in town is the impressive Skogafoss waterfall, towering to a height of 60 meters. Next to the waterfall is a hiking trail that leads to the top of the falls. In town, there is also the Skogar Museum (Folk Museum), divided into three parts: the first part is outdoors, featuring traditional turf houses restored from the 18th and 19th centuries. Nearby is also an old schoolhouse from 1901 and a church from 1879. The second part of the museum is dedicated to transport and communication, displaying vintage vehicles, snowplows, saddles, boats, and more. The third part exhibits various cultural artifacts and crafts, such as musical instruments, traditional costumes, various tools, and more. In this section, you will also find a department focused on Icelandic nature, displaying local wildlife and insect species. The museum is ideal for visiting on a rainy day when hiking is difficult, and you will also find a cafeteria and a souvenir shop on site.

Another interesting point of interest to visit is the visitor center located near the Eyjafjallajokull volcano, which erupted in April 2010 and caused widespread flight cancellations worldwide. The visitor center belongs to the Thorvaldseyri family farm, which sits at the foot of the volcano. The center features numerous photographs from the event and a 7-minute film showing the family living on the farm and their life before, during, and after the eruption. The family, who put great effort into building the center and producing the film, aims to convey the firsthand feelings, sights, and sounds. The visitor center is small but decorated with bold colors that enhance the experience. The floor of the center is made of volcanic ash mixed with cement, accented by a sprinkle of stones brought from the nearby Katla volcano. The short film is special and authentic, the photos are very impressive, and it is well worth a visit.
