It is surrounded by lakes with swimming beaches, rivers, forests, and mountains with cable cars, and in winter, skiers flock to it. In 2010, it hosted the Winter Olympics. Its ski resorts, restaurants, and resorts are included every year among the best in Canada and the world.
In summer, mountain biking is especially developed, alongside hiking, bear watching, and several ziplines, including the longest one in North America. Jeep, RZR, and ATV tours are available alongside rafting and kayaking.

Whistler experiences a cold, rainy, and snowy winter, averaging over a meter of snow in January, with an average daytime temperature of 0°C and -5°C at night.
In summer, average daytime temperatures range between 20-24°C from June through September, and 7-9°C at night. During these months, there is an average of ~50 mm of rainfall per month, raining on average 10 days each month, with sunshine visible about 50% of daytime hours.

Mountain Tour by Cable Car
Whistler is surrounded by mountains offering magnificent views of the town, lakes, and surrounding peaks. There are four cable cars operating in summer that allow you to explore the mountains. You can purchase a combo ticket for all of them. A great way to start is on the Blackcomb Gondola departing from Upper Village near the Fairmont Hotel, which reaches one peak. Explore there, then continue on the Peak 2 Peak Gondola, Whistler/Blackcomb, which crosses over a dramatic valley to reach the second peak. This cable car also features cabins with glass floors.
At each summit, you'll find hiking and mountain biking trails, restaurants, and viewing platforms. At the second summit, a chairlift ascends a steep cliff leading to a suspension bridge overlooking breathtaking landscapes, along with numerous trails for all difficulty levels.
At the summits, there is beautiful alpine vegetation, and you can see the town of Whistler and its lakes.
The ride back down on the Whistler Mountain Village Gondola brings you straight into the vibrant center of the pristine town.

Guided Bear Watching Tour
Whistler is rich in bear populations, including both grizzly bears and black bears. Signs are posted everywhere warning about bears and providing safety guidelines. While we didn't encounter any bears roaming freely on our own, we joined one of the local bear searching tours offered in the area.
A fantastic small company is Yogi's Bear Tours, owned by Yogi (of Albanian descent), who was also our passionate guide. The bear search takes place in a 4x4 vehicle through the expansive Pemberton Valley and nearby mountain areas. Beyond bears, we spotted a waterfall, deer, visited a picturesque farm, and took in breathtaking panoramic view points.

Compact Whistler boasts 170 restaurants and cafes across all styles and tiers, mostly concentrated in the main Village or Upper Village, all within walking distance of one another.
A wonderful and highly recommended way to experience local cuisine is through the Finer Things Dinner Tour in Whistler. The Road to Whistler: Scenery and Attractions along Highway 99
Travelers reaching Whistler from Vancouver can look forward to a wonderful journey along Highway 99 connecting Vancouver to Whistler.
This is a spectacular scenic route known as the "Sea to Sky Highway", dominated by vibrant turquoise vistas. The drive takes about 1.5 hours without stops, but it is best to dedicate a full day to it.
